The De Santos Gallery is a project of Luis and Gemma de Santos, long time supporters and collectors of photography. The gallery is dedicated to photography in all its forms.
In 2003, the gallery opened its doors, at its present location, 1724 Richmond Avenue. The award-winning stucco and glass structure was designed by architect Fernando Brave, and is located in a rapidly evolving artistic area near the Menil Museum and the University of St. Thomas, as well as the Houston Museum District. The gallery is composed of a main show room at street level and a second level, home to LADS Photography.
DeSantos Gallery inventory is eclectic and evolving. The gallery presents both American and International photographers with special emphasis on Spanish photography. Photographers and materials are chosen solely on the basis of the artistic director's vision of photography as a unique art form of the 20th and 21st century. Exhibits are free of self-limiting trends and influences. The gallery presents lectures by critics, collectors and photographers.
DeSantos Gallery represents artists and shows photography on consignment. The gallery accepts portfolios for review. Portfolios may be submitted by mail or digitally and must be accompanied by an artist statement. Materials will be returned only if arrangements are made by the artist.
